Position Summary:

The Activities Director position requires meeting high standards in all areas of creating, developing, promoting intellectual, stimulation, physical exercise, social interaction, spiritual nourishment, and emotional support and community involvement for the population served. The Activities Director will maintain an environment that meets the needs, wants, and interests of the individuals served while promoting desirable interaction and independence.


Responsibilities:

  1. Plans and directs activity programs with residents as assigned. Conducts an initial greeting and introduction to the activity program for all residents within 72 hours of admission.
  2. Establishes and implements a master program plan that includes on-going daily programs for all residents including group and 1-1 programs, community outings and outdoor activities.
  3. Drives facility bus/van per protocol of the facility.
  4. Prepares and distributes Resident Activity calendars to all residents and keeps them on file for 7 years for regulatory compliance.
  5. Serves as advisor to the Resident Council, with duties including but not limited to coordinating the regular scheduled meetings, and recording/distributing minutes and assuring all concerns are addressed by facility management as needed.
  6. Assists with outings.
  7. Works weekends, evenings, and holidays as assigned.
  8. Prepares and distributes Resident newsletter monthly or per facility schedule
  9. Assists with Resident council as assigned.
  10. Attends resident care conferences as assigned.
  11. Promotes resident involvement and active decision-making in program implementation.
  12. Maintains accurate attendance documentation for all residents for all events, and other therapeutic contacts/programs as assigned.
  13. Publicizes all facility events through posters, resident newsletters or other facility resources as available.
  14. Assists with volunteers in the Activity Department.
  15. Works with interns and students as assigned.
  16. Greets new residents, orientates to activity services as requested.
  17. Seeks and attends continuing education opportunities outside of the facility.
  18. Participates in Quality Improvement activities and participates in Quality PIP projects as assigned.
  19. Is aware of all policies and procedures for the activity department, safety and other clinical areas direction related to the therapeutic activity department.
  20. Ensures departmental equipment is in good working order and reports all needed repairs immediately.
  21. Assists with voting services/registration for all residents as assigned.
