Presbyterian Homes & Services is seeking a Clinical Leader In Training to join our team. The Clinical Leader in Training position is designed to provide practical, on the job experience and accountability along the development path to become a Clinical Administrator at a Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS) community.
The Clinical Leader in Training reports dually to (1) the Clinical Administrator at the assigned site and (2) the Talent Development Support Specialist at the Home Office. The Clinical Leader in Training will work with cross functional site leaders and PHS Management staff on a regular basis.
Under the direction of the assigned Clinical Administrator, you will learn and assist in the overall administration of the site by managing special operations and leadership projects to further the accomplishment of key site goals and objectives. The expectation is to learn and demonstrate solid competency in the following areas in order to prepare for a Clinical Administrator role within PHS:
- Christian Culture - Support the integration of Christian Culture in the community. Identify resources available to leaders and incorporate them into your personal leadership. Reinforce the Christian heritage and culture through communications and education systems. Recognize the importance of spiritual matters to customers and employees. Serve with compassion.
- Ready & Engaged People - Hire, train and manage the performance of the nurses assigned as a part of the development role. Coach and assist staff to achieve desired outcomes and individual development. Ensure an effective performance management system is in place for all clinical staff.
- Operational Integrity – Learn and demonstrate competency in the objectives and required activities of a clinical administrator related to all community functions.
a. Regulatory compliance – Survey Prep/Mock Survey and Plans of Correction
b. Care Management – Resident Assessments, Care Planning, Documentation
c. Case Management
e. Health Information Management
g. RAI/MDS and Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) management/expectations
h. Risk Management
i. Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement – QAPI, QIIP
- Service Excellence - Lead the clinical staff and program to ensure an environment that achieves high quality care and service for residents (physical/mental, emotional, social and spiritual) and maintains their independence and dignity to the highest degree possible. Establish and maintain effective communication systems with all customers.
- Stewardship - Understand how to manage resource allocations in order to achieve or exceed operational goals. Ensure adequate staffing that meets resident care needs and financial goals. Assist in maintaining optimal census, service and payer mix to achieve operational goals. Gain competency in managing services collaboratively with other professionals inside and outside PHS and to promote cooperation with all regulatory organizations managing with an expectation of appropriate compliance and corrective measures.

- Must possess a current RN degree and license in the state of MN
- Ability to communicate effectively the vision, mission and philosophy of care to promote a fully engaged team. Effective leadership skills.
- Flexibility to relocate to any of PHS’ 40+ locations in MN, IA or WI dependent on the needs of the organization.
- Results oriented and demonstrated ability to work independently with self-discipline as well as cooperatively as part of a team.
- Excellent process management skills and strong attention-to-detail including the ability to coordinate multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other common computer programs.
- Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language to communicate with all customers.
- Demonstrated compatibility with PHS’ mission and operating philosophies.
